Goddard Public Library has secured a grant through the Public Library Association in order to provide an internship opportunity for an individual age 16-19 going into 11/12 grade in high school or Freshman year of college.  This grant provides wages for the intern for a 10 week period in which they primarily work on a project that they and their mentor agree upon.  Total funds paid to the intern will be $3500 for that 10 week period of work starting June 1, 2021 and concluding August 6, 2021.

Project

The project needs to focus on a program or service that will benefit the Library and community.  Project possibilities:

Digitation of library and other documents
Restarting and expanding the Teen Advisory Board
Starting our Garden project
Work with Director to secure another location for another StoryWalk – This will include meeting with officials, possibly presenting a proposal, securing monetary donations, etc.
Starting our Book Briefs – video book talks
Videography project

Participation

Along with scheduled work times, the intern will be expected to attend virtual meetings and participate in online forums with other interns around the nation.  Attendance is required to fulfill the grant guidelines.  At the end of September there will be an online meeting where all participants will give a report on their project and its efficacy.

Our Intern

We hired Megan W. as our intern.  She has decided her project will be revamping the Teen Advisory Board.  Stay tuned for exciting TAB events this summer.
