At this point, you’ve probably heard that library cards offer access to more than just books. But what does your Goddard Public Library card get you? We want you to use your card to its highest potential, so this post will walk you through everything you need to know about your library card.

  1. What is the KanShare system?

The KanShare Library system is a consortium that was created to give library card holders access to more materials than what would be available within only their home library. The KanShare Libraries are:

  • Andover Public Library

  • Augusta Public Library

  • Bradford Memorial Library (El Dorado)

  • Derby Public Library

  • Goddard Public Library

  • Mulvane Public Library

  • Park City Public Library

  • Rose Hill Public Library

That means your Goddard Public Library card is a KanShare card, and your home library is Goddard. So, you can place items like books and DVDs on hold, and they will be sent to the Goddard library for pickup - for free! You will get a message when your item is ready for pickup, and we will hold it here at the library for 7 days.

Being a member of the KanShare system also means that you can go to any of the libraries mentioned above and use your Goddard card there.

  1. Experience Passes

The Goddard library is proud to offer our patrons experience passes to four Wichita area attractions. Currently, we have Exploration Place, Botanica, Wichita Art Museum, and Tanganyika. These passes are typically on a waiting list for patrons due to popularity, and we only offer one to two passes per location. Each pass checks out for one week at a time and, when the pass becomes available to you, library staff will call and inform you that you have two days to pick the pass up. Once the pass is picked up, it checks out for 7 days. To place one of the passes on hold, you can call the library at 316-794-8771.

Each location’s pass offers different perks, so if you are looking for more details depending on location, please ask library staff!

  1. Tonies

Tonies are now available at the library! Tonieboxes are audio boxes that play songs and read books, depending on what character is placed on top of the box.

Currently, we have two Tonieboxes available and four bags of Tonie Characters, but we are working on getting more into the system! Tonie items check out for one week at a time.
