You may not know, but February is National Library Lover's Month!

We Love Our Community

The employees here at the Goddard Public Library certainly love our library. We may be small, but the services and programs we offer to our community are huge. We truly love being able to serve you each day with books, events, a quiet place to study, a place to let your kiddos play, and more.

So whether you visit us for all of your reading needs, participate in our yearly reading challenges, use our e-book and audiobook services, or just come in to hang out, thank you! We would not be able to do what we do here at the library without all of our amazing patrons.

Why Our Patrons Love Their Library

In celebration of Library Lover's Month, we asked our Facebook and Instagram followers what they love about our library. Here is what they had to say:

Jacinda: I love the fantastic service from the staff. They always go out of their way to help. I also love the experience passes that allow families to visit area attractions for free.

Jessica: We love the Goddard Library for their friendly staff, cozy establishment, always neat and easy to find things. The back packs are such a great option to take home and my kids very much enjoy the baby dolls, kitchen and new light table. They have a good amount of toys and switch it up. I love that the toys and books are in one area so the kids can play while I look for books and monitor them. Always a favorite!

Mandi: I love the people, the selection of books and all of the wonderful programs that can be found at the library!

Kristi: What makes me happiest about our library is the ladies who work there. They are so kind and fun. They all work hard every day for our community.

Rosalina: How do we love thee, let us count the ways! It started with the children’s programs, the TLC and personal care we receive from the staff, the adult activities are fun and over the years my children have found it to be their safe space, their second home! THANK YOU is just not enough!

Joan: Wonderful book clubs.

Linda: We love so many things about the Goddard Library! The fun backpacks we can check out, the great toys to play with when we go, the Lego Club, the movie bags, the holiday decor/activities, the summer Craft Labs, and your fiction section.

If you do not already have a library card, we encourage you to sign up for one. Goddard is a member of the KanShare Libraries, meaning that your card gives you access to hundreds of thousands of physical books to check out across eight area libraries: Andover, Augusta, Bradford Memorial (El Dorado), Derby, Goddard, Mulvane, Park City, and Rose Hill! So, if you just can't find what you're looking for here, the chances are pretty high that we will be able to bring it in for you. But what if you're not a huge reader? What does the library have to offer?

Not only do we have a great selection of books both in our library and the KanShare system, we also have a large Library of Things filled with non-book items for our patrons. Want to go fishing? We have the perfect kit for that! Learning how to knit and crochet? We have a kit for that, too! Want to take advantage of Goddard's awesome disc golf course? You guessed it, we have kits for that! We also have a variety of American Girl Doll kits to choose from, a Minecraft kit, Hot Wheels kit, and more. Our Multisensory Kits, which contain books and activities with themes such as colors, shapes, emotions, and so on, are very popular among our youngest patrons. And don't worry, the list doesn't stop there!

Our selection of movies is great, and we also have Binge Bags containing a themed selection of movies, as well as popcorn and candy to eat!

Our library also offers many programs and events throughout the year for patrons of all ages. Some fan favorites are weekly Story Times, monthly Kids Movement Class, Goddard Puppet Ladies shows, Crocktober, Charcuterie Board classes, and of course, Summer Reading!

Our teen group, Teen Tuesday, meets twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 6pm. Some of their favorite events are their annual Cookie Decorating (which is coming up on February 10th), Movie Nights (also coming up on February 24th), Among Us In Real Life, Escape Rooms, Art Nights, and more! Teen Tuesdays are open to all teens ages 13-18.
